Road Trip to Identity Key/ July'26

The purpose of exhibition is threefold: 

Diese Ausstellung hat drei Beweggründe:

Firstly, for both Marcello and Lowell, it is about reconnecting with ourselves at our core, to that point in life where we were aware of who we were and what we liked, before the world convinced us that other things were more important. 

Zuerst geht es Marcello und Lowell darum, wie man zu seinem innersten Kern zurückfindet, zu jenem Punkt im Leben, an dem wir wussten wer wir waren, bevor uns die Welt einredete, dass andere Dinge wichtiger sind.

Secondly, for both, it is about the importance of maintaining the tradition of storytelling as the world ‘evolves’ into homogeneity all around us.

Zweitens ist es beiden Künstlern wichtig, dass die Tradition des Geschichtenerzählers erhalten bleibt, gerade weil die Welt um uns herum immer gleichförmiger und eintöniger zu werden scheint.

Thirdly, and certainly not of least importance, for Lowell, it is about ocean conservation, because without healthy ocean ecosystems, coral reefs in particular, there is no life. 

Drittens geht es Lowell um die Schönheit und den Schutz der Ozeane, denn ohne gesunde Meeresökosysteme - insbesondere Korallenriffe- gibt es kein Leben.

'Road Trip to Identity Key' is  a narrative about a month and a half journey my dad took me on at 14 to see if I wanted to be a marine biologist or an art teacher, and the journey took us to the Florida Keys. The trip turned out to be the single most formative event in my development, informing how I identify myself in, and engage with, the world. 

Die Geschichte hinter "Road Trip To Identity Key" basiert auf der Erinnerung an ein sechswöchige Autoreise von Colorado zu den Florida Keys, die ich als Vierzehnjähriger mit meinem Vater unternahm. Wir hatten das Ziel herauszufinden, ob ich Meeresbiologe oder Kunstlehrer werden wollte. Diese Reise entpuppte sich als das identitätsprägendste Erlebnis meiner Entwicklung und definierte weitgehend wie ich mich selber sehe und mit der Welt interagiere.
